Join the FoodLink NE Project: Developing Stronger Links between Local Food and Local People
FoodLink NE aims to develop a new Local Food Network (LFN) for Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City. This initiative seeks to improve access to local food grown, reared, produced, or made in the region by supporting those who create it, strengthening direct connections between producers and consumers, and utilizing the shortest possible supply chains. By doing so, we strive to achieve significant social, economic, and environmental benefits.
A passionate team of local growers and partners are leading this exciting project as a collaboration between The James Hutton Institute, Fair Food Aberdeenshire, NESCAN, members of The Landworkers Alliance, and The Mixing Bowl Aberdeen. The journey to establish the new network begins with a comprehensive feasibility study conducted in two phases. Phase 1 will take place from June 2024 to September 2024, with more details available HERE.

We are eager to collaborate with farmers, producers, makers, and independent retailers in the area. Your insights and experiences are invaluable to us, and we invite you to contribute by initially participating in a semi-structured questionnaire. At a later stage, there will also be an opportunity to join a focus group. In addition, we welcome individuals and communities passionate about forging stronger connections with local producers and encourage you to get in touch.
Get involved and be part of this exciting movement towards a sustainable and resilient local food system.
We look forward to hearing from you. Please email foodlinkne@gmail.com if you would like to contribute to the project, or subscribe HERE to stay up to date with the project's progress.
